Jeffrey “Cheffrey” Gardner—sous chef extraordinaire at Fifth Group Restaurants’ South City Kitchen Midtown—will appear on Food Network’s popular competition program, Chopped, on February 1 at 10pm.
The competitors reel in a peculiar combination in the appetizer round: catfish and marshmallows. The tough challenge is made even tougher when first-round nervousness becomes a factor. And in the entrée round the chefs are intent on infusing mouthwatering flavor into pork country ribs. Then the judges watch to see which of the two finalists will step up and deliver the better dessert from a basket with Latin flair.
So, as a show of support, let’s join Jeffrey at El Taco that night to raise a glass (and a taco) to watch the show on the five flat screen TVs and cheer him on to victory!

Kicks for Causes

Kicks for Causes (aka as Kick For A Cure) will take place on February 26, 2011 at Atlanta’s Silverback Stadium. The kickball tournament will benefit Caring for Causes, a nonprofit organization supporting local charities, as well as Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The tournament is double elimination this year! The tournament will be day long beginning at 9am-7pm, with spots for 64 teams this year. The brackets will be d…ivided into two divisions: Competitive and For The Cause. Registration fee is $235 per team with an early bird special beginning today until January 1, 2011 and $255 after. Registration ends February 15th.
Prizes will be awarded for champions and the winners will direct proceeds to the charity of their choice. There also are plaques given away for top teams plus fun socials awards. Social awards include best 80’s costumes, most money raised per team, most spirited, traveled furthest distance, and much more.
