The Decatur Arts Festival showcases over 140 artists set up tents to display and sell their works on the Square in downtown Decatur. This highly competitive, juried show offers the best talent from all over the nation.
Continuous performing arts from 11am to 5pm at the community bandstand on the Square. This year’s line-up includes performances by Larkin Poe, Scott Little Band, Jacob Jeffries Band, Morgan Rowe, Gwen Hughes & The Retro Jazz Katz, ConunDRUMS, JazzChronics, Swamp Funk Quartet, Bonaventure Quartet, Yonrico Scott Band, and Sewhe Village Percussion.
Plenty of fun for toddlers, elementary-aged kids and teens with lots of hands-on art projects, performers, balloon artists and a rock climbing wall all held on the lawn of the Decatur First Baptist Church. Atlanta Bar Golf presents…The 2011 Highland Cup
The objective of Bar Golf is similar to real golf…try and achieve the lowest score of the entire playing field. If you’ve played before, the rules have not changed.
As a themed pub crawl, each of the nine “holes” has a line up of specialty drinks testing each golfer’s desire to conquer the hole. Each drink’s degree of difficulty determines his or her score on the hole (Eagle, Birdie, Par, or Bogey).
Of course, what golf tournament wouldn’t provide the ability for each golfer to redeem/penalize themselves through various “Scoring Adjustments” (The Golddigger, The Yearbook, Breaking the Seal, etc).
We will spend 30 minutes at each hole. You must finish your drink and record your score within the time allotted. Tournament officials will give a five minute warning at each hole before proceeding to the next hole.
Although golf attire is not required, it is after all, a golf themed event. So get in the spirit!

The competitors reel in a peculiar combination in the appetizer round: catfish and marshmallows. The tough challenge is made even tougher when first-round nervousness becomes a factor. And in the entrée round the chefs are intent on infusing mouthwatering flavor into pork country ribs. Then the judges watch to see which of the two finalists will step up and deliver the better dessert from a basket with Latin flair.

Kicks for Causes (aka as Kick For A Cure) will take place on February 26, 2011 at Atlanta’s Silverback Stadium. The kickball tournament will benefit Caring for Causes, a nonprofit organization supporting local charities, as well as Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation.
The tournament is double elimination this year! The tournament will be day long beginning at 9am-7pm, with spots for 64 teams this year. The brackets will be d…ivided into two divisions: Competitive and For The Cause. Registration fee is $235 per team with an early bird special beginning today until January 1, 2011 and $255 after. Registration ends February 15th.
Prizes will be awarded for champions and the winners will direct proceeds to the charity of their choice. There also are plaques given away for top teams plus fun socials awards. Social awards include best 80’s costumes, most money raised per team, most spirited, traveled furthest distance, and much more.
