Two Must Attend Events This Week

It’s In Your Genes Fashion Show

“It’s in Your Genes,” sponsored by the Atlanta Jewish Gene Screen, is a denim fashion show featuring new looks from Atlanta’s most stylish jeans boutiques. Tickets for the event include an open beer and wine bar (for those 21 and older) and hors d’oeuvres, as well as a spectacular fashion event, DJ and dancing. Guests can upgrade to VIP for free parking, access to special lounge and private bar and reserved seating for the fashion show.

I am so excited be attending this event with my friend Emily Lipman, whose boutique, Raw Denim, is showcasing in the fashion show.

What do two fifty-four foot helicopters, thirty catering companies, dozens of performers and three football fields worth of film sets have in common?  The Next Cool Event would be the answer.

The press has been alerted, it is official The Next Cool Thing is coming back in 2012! The Next Cool Event, a spectacular display of the talented film industry professionals has tripled in size and will taking over the Atlanta Exposition Center (Three football fields) February 17 & 18, 2012.

In 2011 founder and producer, Barbara English, launched The Next Cool Thing in hopes to show film industry decision makers that everything they need for a first class production is right here in Georgia.

The event was a bigger sensation than anyone could have ever imagined.  Film makers, celebrities, executives, hipsters, trendsetters and socialites filled the westside warehouse to check out what was really behind the curtains of the Georgia Film Industry. The event had my vote as I walked the red carpet and strolled onto the set of  Sex and The City and then hopped on over to the seductive James Bond set and then through the trenches of Star Wars. The event was dotted with the upper cusp of Atlanta’s social buzzers and even a celebrity or two (Tyler Perry strolled the event incognito). My favorite sets were Six Feet Under, James Bond, Sex and The City and Black Swan.

What to expect this year:

Three football fields of designer sets themed as iconic movies and television shows. Delicious food from over 30 of Atlanta’s best caterers. Surprises around every corner including non-stop performances through out the entire weekend.

2012 Events

Friday February 17, 2012: Red Carpet Cocktails will kick off the weekend of festivities from 7:00pm-11:00pm. Click Here to get your tickets.

Saturday February 18, 2012: What a Life from 11:00am-4:00pm. Click Here to get your ticket

Saturday February 18, 2012: VIP Gala from 7:00pm-12:00am. Click Here to get your tickets.(I got mine)

The VIP Gala will have a lot of amazing perks but my favorite perk is that Hope Sonam will be performing 2-3 songs at 8:00pm in the Recording Academy Suite which will feature a 36×16 stage and a VIP lounge. Be sure not to miss her show stopping performance.

The Next Cool Thing

The cool kids hit the West side last night to step into a once barren warehouse transformed into the super bowl of event and set design. Cars were lined up down Chattahoochee Avenue to get a preview of Atlanta’s most proclaimed event, interior and set designers as well as tastes from the best event caterers and trendsetting restaurants at the opening of The Next Cool Thing.

The event had my vote as I walked the red carpet and strolled onto the set of  Sex and The City and then hopped on over to the sexy set of James Bond and then through the trenches of Star Wars. The event was dotted with the upper cusp of Atlanta’s social buzzers and even a celebrity or two (Tyler Perry strolled the event incognito).

The Good: A variety of entertainment including acrobatics, casino games and live performances.

The Great: The best of the best showcased their over the top designs. My favorite sets were Six Feet Under, James Bond, Sex and The City and Black Swan.

The Creative: Zest Atlanta serving delicious bites via the infamous bond girls.

The Luxurious: The room was dotted with a benz, vintage rolls, jag and an energy trendy smart car looking euro car.

The Bad: Valet filling up early does not pair well with 30 degree temperatures.

The Ugly: Cold crab cakes from Six Feet Under and a poor beverage selection.

My fav: Mingling with the oompa loompas of Wanka Land! I shrunk a little for the photo opp!

Final Words: The Next Cool Thing was an overall Cool Event! It truly showcases how lucky Atlanta is to have so much talent!
