CHICAGO

Hi From DC!!

I have been a busy bee lately and neglected to post over Thanksgiving! Since I was so busy having a blast in Chicago I want to share some pictures and recommendations that will rock your socks off!

Food Food & More Food

Herm’s Hot Dog Palace- Yes it is as unhealthy as it sounds but they have some damn good fried salami and dogs!

Food Life-  A food court on steroids x 10. Located in Water Tower in downtown Chicago, Food Life has something for every palate. The experience starts by a hostess seating your group and giving you a charge card to order food. You take the card to one of the 13 kitchens including, Big Bowl (Chinese), Barbecue, Comfort, Sausages, Juice, Pasta, Pizza, Salad, Soup, Stir-Fry, Sushi, Taqueria & Dessert. After you have stuffed your face you take your card to the front register and check out. To find out more about Food Life Click Here.

Les Nomades- I consider this one of the best (and most expensive) meals I have enjoyed.  Just steps off Michigan Avenue Les Nomades is a staple in the Chicago Dining Scene. It is a preset menu with options served in your choice of 4 or 5 courses! I had a four course meal (ended up being five with a complimentary course of mushroom soup from Chef). My courses included, Asparagus Risotto, Warm Lobster & Shrimp Salad, Angus Beef Filet and the Apple Tart (plus bites of Brennan’s Chocolate Souffle.  It is a splurge but definitely worth it for a special occasion.

Sprinkles- Being a cupcake connoisseur I had to try the Chicago location of Beverly Hills’ and the world’s first cupcake bakery! The myths are true there is always a long line.  We waited for 20 minutes but the experience was worth it. I don’t think Sprinkles are the worlds best cupcakes but the cinnamon sugar and milk chocolate cupcakes were really good!

Culture

The Shed Aquarium The Shed will give the Georgia Aquarium a run for its money! The aquarium has a unique set up, very cool exhibits and the interior design is very aesthetically pleasing.

The Field Museum- You can get lost in fantasy and imagination as you step into history at The Field. As you walk in you are greeted by Sue, the T.Rex, and life-size elephants. A whole day could be spent at the museum viewing their permanent traveling exhibitions like Whales: Giants of The Deep & Chocolate: Around The World.

Boutique Shopping

Lori’s Designer Shoes- Discount designer shoes- danger danger! The selection is amazing! Everything from designer flats to brand name boots to swanky stilettos to jeggings (yes I bought a pair for only $39). The best news: You don’t have to travel to Chicago to indulge in their selection! You can shop online by Clicking Here!

Asinamali- Located in downtown Evanston, this is an all around super cute accessory, gift and clothing boutique! I picked up a few unique and inexpensive pieces of jewelry and a few presents (they gift wrap). If you are in the area it is worth stopping in this locally owned boutique! Click Here to check out Asinamali’s website!

Enaz- This trendy and earthy clothing and accessory boutique is located in Northfield and Highland Park.  It has a great variety of staple items at an affordable price! I picked up a trendy pink sweater off the sale rack that ended up being 75% off!! Definitely make this a stop on your shopping tour! (picture from thelistcollective.com)

Michigan Avenue- You can never go wrong with all the amazing staple designers that line Michigan Avenue! Make sure to hit up Top Shop a new European store to land in Chicago (think H&M style & prices).
